I need to create an MQ interface between 2 application A and B.

Was able to configure the connection between MQ and B using a specific port number.

But was not able to configure the connection between A and the MQ with that same port number. The reason being I''m not able to create the sender channel on the application A using that same port number.

Wht might be the reason?

I'm currently on MQ 5.3 on AIX

1. What, precisely, do you mean by: 'I need to create an MQ interface between 2 application A and B.' ?

2. Does: 'Was able to configure the connection between MQ and B using a specific port number.', mean the application is connecting to the queue manager via WMQ Client?

A better description of the topology would better help us to help you.

Upgrade. It's not your problem but you're on an unsupported version.

You could also profit from a quick scan through the Intercommunication manual, which describes this sort of set up. With pictures.
