The following configuration is resulting in a 2082 (unknown alias base queue):

QM1: local alias queue Q1 pointing to Q2

QM2/MQ3: cluster definitions of local queue Q2.

RFHUTILC works fine. However, JMS produces a 2082 when putting onto Q1.

Although there have been a few posts relating to this problem, there didn't appear to be a definitive solution. Has anyone managed to get round using JMS to put to an alias queue that points to a cluster queue?

The following appears to fix it:

On QM1: DEFINE QREMOTE(x) RNAME() RQMNAME()

Then put to queue://x/Q1

Is this because JMS now thinks that it is a remote queue, so doesn't try to find the base queue?

This is because the qmgr puts to a queue on a cluster X.

Name resolution will work this way.

Find xmitq / qmgr alias for qmgr X

qmgr alias exists and points to an empty qmgr no xmitq (cluster).
Use name resolution for Cluster and send to corresponding queue.

You remote definition for X is called a cluster Alias.
Have fun
