Hi
We are in a dilemma whether to ask the vendor to go ahead with MQ or with TDQ for one of the design issues we have, but if i have a solid savings in terms of MQ, I can ask them to go ahead.
We are trying to replicate a B24 system in Mainframe (Not Entirely, but to some extent). We wanted to send some messages to B24, which I was thinking of putting to a MQ, another program picking it up, sends to B24 (Over TCP/IP), B24 responds back, puts them to a different MQ. If the application program in Mainframe does not receive the response in a stipulated Time-interval, the same message which was sent earlier needs to be retried (till a response is received in the time frame).
I can achieve this using a TDQ, using a running task, which keeps monitoring, storing the messages in a database, and also keeping track of the time counters. Can i achieve this in MQ? Probably WAITINTERVAL in MQGET might help, but how about the retries.
Any help will be appreciated. |

Don't cross-post to multiple topics, it fragments the discussion. Look for responses on your other post in "Mainframe and CICS". _________________ Glenn |
