Hi,
today i installed a fresh mq series for the first time. (MQ 6 on RHEL5 x86_64)
i "played" a little bit with it.
Now i have some questions:
1. is there an free Windows GUI existing to monitor, configure ... the MQ Installation on my RHEL 5 Server?
2. is there a documentation for installing an mq Cluster existing (mq on 2 machines with failover..)
3. i tried to use postcard, but i am not able to start it

i set the pathes like i found them in a install documentation

I hope you guys can help me. I am very ne in mq series

1. The WMQExplorer will do this (also available on Linux).
2. A support pack exists (MC91) for HA on UNIX.
3. Someone will be along to answer this, hopefully...

thanks very much!
i found 3 by myself
export PATH
export CLASSPATH
export MQ_JAVA_INSTALL_PATH
export MQ_JAVA_DATA_PATH
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
was missing.
now there are no errors at starting but nothing happens. no output, no erros. what should happen? |

A good question...and well presented!
The answer is, I don't know. I've never played with it, but the documentation should state what should happen.

Ensure you have installed the MQSeriesConfig rpm, if you have then just run strmqcfg to run the MQ Explorer. |

where can i find the WMQExplorer?
google shows me 3 pages, non of them with a download.
on the ibm site i only found a help page? |

Looks like you have only the Client installation package, not the Server installation package.

It's a fair cop!  Sorry, I missed that (note to self - READ, don't skim!).
Do you have installation media, or was it a package download?

i downloaded the linux x86_64 MQ 6 package from the ibm website.
i do not have any cd oder dvd or something like this.
the explorer under linux would be interesting (where can i get this config rpm?) but more interesting would be the WMQExplorer for windows.
do you know where i can get it?

why is define qlocal ('queue') working but define qlocal (queue) not?
while creating i get no error but later testing with ./amqsput is not possible if i missed the -'-
can i define everything with ' or only some things like qlocal and other things without ' ? |

MQ Explorer is on the Server CD (or download distribution). If you are allowed to download the Windows server packages then it can be installed from that. If you have an MQ server license then you are allowed to install as many copies as you like of the Explorer:

I think the problem is that the MQ Explorer is not provided with the x86_64 linux packages, only the 32 bit ones. |

If you don't use quotes then the queue name will be converted to upper case. Hence with amqsput you would need to put to QUEUE, or use quotes to ensure lower case. |

I'm not sure whether WMQExplorer (Windows version) is available for download. I've always had media installation packs, so I can't be of further help there.
As for the define statements, 'queue' will produce a queue called queue, the quotes will cause it to be interpreted as a literal string, but queue will produce a queue called QUEUE - it folds to upper case.

Going against your beliefs both are working.
However if you read the doc (runmqsc admin manual   ) you would have noticed a little note that said that if you use lower case or mixed case you need to use single quotes ... otherwise your input gets folded to UPPERCASE!
As such
