Hi
Iam trying to install MQ 5.3 on SUSE Linux.
Iam trying to execute mqlicense.sh but it is failing iam getting the following exception could anyone help me to figure out this problem.

staples:/home/nadimpaj/Dumps/MQ 5.3 # ./mqlicense.sh -accept
./mqlicense.sh: line 132: 5080 Segmentation fault ${JRE?} -cp ${LAPCLASSPATH?} com.ibm.lex.lapapp.LAP -l ${PROGPATH?}/lap/licenses -s /tmp/mq_license ${STATUSARG} ${DISPLAYARG}

ERROR: Installation will not succeed unless the license
agreement can be accepted.

If the error was caused by a display problem,
read the license agreement file in the 'License'
directory, and then run the following command:

mqlicense.sh -accept

Only use this command if you accept the license
agreement.

For other errors, contact your IBM support centre.

staples:/home/nadimpaj/Dumps/MQ 5.3 #

If you are trying to install, then go with a supported product (ie, v6).

MQ licenses are not version specific, they are product specific. Download and use MQ 6.0 if you have valid licenses for MQ.

./mqlicense.sh -accept

Also, try fully pathing the command instead of using just the ./

Make sure you have rights to execute mqlicense.sh, and everything that mqlicense.sh calls as well.

Um.

Confirm all licensing information with your IBM sales representative.

It's my understanding that one buys entitlement to a particular version of MQ, and one can then buy maintenance for the product. If one keeps maintenance, then the entitlement can extend to the next version - but not in all cases for all products.

Yeah, you're right Jeff.

I've never seen a production version # for MQ in our passport renewals, but the maintenance/entitlement renewals are what insure we are currently licensed.

If dcjs' shop did not buy this, I guess they may not be licensed for 6.0. They are licensed for an unsupported product. They might have purchased extended support, but that probably costs a lot more than doing whatever it would take to get them to 6.0.

I think dcjs should be talking to other people at his or her company, if that machine name means anything at all.

hi , while installing the mq series 5.3 on linux i have the same problem , by making the following changes , my installation was sucessfull,

Use the following work around for either mqlicense

Read the license agreement in the License directory
1.
export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19
mkdir -p /tmp/mq_license/license
echo 9 > /tmp/mq_license/license/status.dat

2.

<mqlicense.sh>
...

# Set JRE location
#JRE=${PROGPATH?}/lap/jre/bin/java
JRE=/usr/bin/java .. this ur java installed path

...
</mqlicense.sh>

Hope ur problem will solved
