We are running an application that is installed on 1 - many MS Widows 2000 based machines, the application connects to a queue on a MQ 6.0 Windows server. The connections are only for reading the queue. We estimate that we have about 8 connections per second to the same queue. We can run all day and get no connection errors, and then, we can get each machine informing us that it cant connect x times, then it starts working again. My question is " Are there any config options in the MQ Server to let multiple connections to the same queue for reading?". Has anyone else had an issue like this? The queue on the MQ server is set to Shareable. Thanks for your help |

you connect to a queuemanager, not to a queue. the queue is opened by the program.
what error (mqseries returncode) do you get either during the connect to the queuemanager or during the open of the queue? _________________ Regards, Butcher |

The application does not give us a specifc MQ Error code, all it does is send us an email that states a specific workstation could not contact the queue manager, and since we are not getting it all the time, we figure it must "a to many at one time connections" happening at the MQ server for that specific queue manager... The message states "Cant Connect to Queue Manager XXXXX" |

Without the error code, just figuring is unlikely to be productive because you're only guessing what the problem is. Whatever is sending the email must have determined there's a problem, which implies it has access to the reason code.
And as Mr Butcher correctly points out, applications do not connect to queues, they connect to queue managers. It's possible the queue manager is running out of some resource, and there are a number of ways of getting round that, if you know what it is it's running out of from the reason code! It could even be an application issue where poor or unexpected code is running the queue manager out of something.
You need to obtain the reason code. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
