I have got a new install of MQ on Windows 2003 at 6.0.2.0 and created a queue manager via the command line with crtmqm. However, when MQ Explorer is launch, it does not offer the option to create additional queue managers. The logged on user is a member of MQM. Have never come across this before; Any ideas?

How are you trying to create the queue manager?
Is the option 'greyed' out or simply not there? |

Have you tried clicking on the 'Queue Managers' folder on the left hand side and right clicking?
There should be an option there named 'New'. Click that and off you go. |

Thats what you would expect wouldn't you.
On a a server/installation that works, I get the following options when I left click on the queue manager option on the left;
Show/Hide Queue Manager
New
Tests
On the broker server/installation, I get these instead:
Show/Hide Queue Managers
Simple: Sample action on any TreeNode
Menu: Sample action on any TreeNode
Tests
What do these spurious options mean? |

Those mean that you've enabled some Explorer plugins in the Websphere MQ Explorer preferences. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

So do I have to enable something to make the "New" option appear? |

Is it a permissions issue
Is the user you logged on in mqm group? |

It turns out that when the regional setting for the install is set to Turkish, the GUI does not offer the option to create the queue manager. However, when it is set to English, the option is given. Something to note for non-English regional setting !
