Hi,
( 1) I am trying to create a new queue manager. I read in the manual "Concepts and Planning Guide V5R31" pag 29 which states that the max number of buffers space is determined by the amt of storage available in the queue mgr address space; do not use more than 70% of the space for buffers."
My worries/questions:
1. How to use MQ or MVS commands to display the virtual storage used by MQ address space?
2. How to amend the storage used by MQ address space?
3. How to use MQ or MVS commands to display the memory used by MQ address space?
4. How to amend the memory used by MQ address space?
5. How to use MQ commands to display the number of buffers used and the storage it consume?
( 2) Need all your expertise advice to clear my doubts.
Thank you & have a nice day ahead.
For 1-4 you should see your local system programmer for assistance. it depends on your installation, and some simple MVS commands may not do the job (e.g. you may have to look into RMF)
5 - There are no display commands for MQ to see information about the buffer usage, the only thing you get is a message in the log like "bufferpool too small" ....
You will need SMF records if you like to have statistics of your buffers and the buffer usage. see the system setup guide for more information.
Some third party monitoring software is able to provide information on the buffers (like omegamon, ........), without the need to dig in SMF records, maybe you have something like this in your shop. _________________ Regards, Butcher
