We're attempting to upgrade our Solaris machines (about 40 of them) to 6.0, fixpack 2 (the current one). But it's not working too well.
When we attempt to bring up the qmgrs after the install, we get:
WebSphere MQ queue manager 'xxxxxxx' starting.
AMQ6109: An internal WebSphere MQ error has occurred.
plus a little FDC file. If I delete and define the qmgr, it starts successfully and then runs without a problem. If I install 6.0.2 on a new machine, I'm able to create new qmgrs, and they run OK. But I am unable to upgrade existing qmgrs to 6.0.2, and I tried it on 4 machines.
On a whim, we altered our procedure to try a qmgr start AFTER 6.0 was installed, and BEFORE fixpack 2 was added on. And it worked on machine #5. Then I shut the qmgr down and added on FP2. The qmgr again started successfully, and it's running just fine.
My conclusion is that there's a severe bug in FP2 (for Solaris, at least) that breaks the migration of qmgrs to V6. There's no other possibility that I can see. So while I work through this with IBM, we're adding a qmgr recycle in the middle of our upgrade procedure. |

Well, I don't see in the migration doc where it says to apply the fix pack before completing the migration from 5.3 to 6.0. _________________ Joseph

And neither do I see that you have to migrate before you apply maintenance. The document doesn't mention fixpacks at all.
What I'm trying to say is that the typical way to go to a new release is to install it, plus maintenance. That doesn't work with 6.0.2. And it should. |
