| I had the same problem this morning.found a link which said to install serice pack 4. Works fine now. I was installing mq3.4 server on a win2000 which already had mq client. |

Dear All,
I am trying to instal MQseries v6 in Windows xp Professional 2002.
I am getting the error AMQ4739. When I went to Event Viewer, I see only the following message ie,
Product: IBM WebSphere MQ -- Installation operation failed.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
I just went throug "Voyager's" solution where he had run a command from dos prompt. I ran that too, but still getting the same problem.
The command is
mqparms.exe /l*voicewarmup c:\msi.log
Require your immediate help,

but yet I am facing the same issue.
Could you please help with a solution so that I can instal MQ v6 successfully. FYI,I have already installed Eclipse.

fwiw/ymmv, I was also getting AMQ4739 on a reinstall of MQ 5.3. The MSI log referred to an error out of amqiperf.exe indicating that it was unable to update performance counters. Some hits on the IBM service site suggested that there could have been contention with some services. Suggested using tools from sysinternals to look for services using "perf" files. Suggestions included management software and terminal services. Hosed a few tasks - still no go.
Noted that the Windows Event log mentioned that the install failed because it couldn't update a particular registry entry. Happened to be HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib\Last Counter. Confirmed this was not present so added it manually. Without my lucky rabbits foot. Install worked. |

All,
I came across this error as well (AMQ4739) and I want to update this post in case it might help somebody out there.
Our Windows administrator copied the installation files for MQ Client for Windows 6.0 from a central repository to a Windows XP box and experienced the above error trying to install the client.
I found that the entire licenses directory that should be in the install directory was missing. Once I had restored this directory with it's contents, the client installation went through successfully. |

| hi, has anyone seen 'Splash Bitmap not running' error? i'm installing mq v5.3 server on windows NT SP6. throws AMQ4739 error. notning much in msi.log file |
