The question of support for Oracle 10g has arisen on several occasions. Now that v6 has been announced we can further clarify this ...
WebSphere Message Broker v6 :
Supports both Oracle 9iR2 and Oracle 10g.
Websphere Business Integrator Message Broker v5 :
WBIMB v5 FP06 does not support Oracle 10g.
The exception to this is on Linux where WBIMB v5 FP04+ plus fix LCR016 provides support for Oracle 10g.
Initially Linux only supported DB2. When support for Oracle was provided, this was done through the DataDirect 5.0 driver (which is what enables support for Oracle 10g).
WBIMB v5 support for Oracle 10g across other platforms is currently undergoing lifecycle testing.
When this testing is complete then support for Oracle 10g should be announced (via a FP release).
I hope this helps to clarify some of the questions (relating to this topic) which have recently been raised on this forum. _________________ Regards, Ian |

Hi Ian/anyone else,
although we are planning an upgrade to WBIMB v5.0/v6.0 we are still running MQSI v2.1 CSD07. A database upgrade from Oracle 81 to 10g may come sooner than the MQSI upgrade, hence my questions:
- Does MQSI v2.1 support Oracle 10g using ODBC?
- Are there any plans from IBM to support 10g on MQSI v2.1
- If 10g is not officially supported with MQSI v2.1 will this nevertheless work? i.e. will a select/insert statement which is part of an ESQL passthru work with a 10g database using our current Datadirect ODBC drivers
Many thanks for any information in this regard!

WMB v6 is the only thing that really supports Oracle 10g.
You cannot upgrade Oracle until you upgrade Broker. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Only WMB v6 and WBIMB v5 FP6 on Linux (as detailed above) support Oracle 10g.
As far as I am aware there are no future plans to support Oracle 10g on WMQI v2.1 so you will have to upgrade your broker.
You can migrate direct from WMQI v2.1 to WMB v6 _________________ Regards, Ian |
