I've suggested an upgrade, but that decision is not mine to make.

Edit June 2014: the upgrade never happened, and the system integration migrated to a diff ...

Did you set both MaxChannels and MaxActiveChannels, and restart the QM? I know, I know, it says the latter will default to the former if not set, but do try it. It might be needed at the old fixpack y ...

You need to restart the QM to pick up any changes to qm.ini.

Yes, I have restarted after every change to mqs.ini and qm.ini.

Although even without restarting, each new connection seems to check ...

It well depends on the fixpack of MQ v5.3. Make sure you are at FixPack 14.

Do nothing else until you are at FixPack 14.

There is a significant difference between MaxChannels and MaxActiveChann ...

Thanks for quick responses!

Running outside inetd also reaches max channels (AMQ9513) at 100, so inetd does not seem to be the reason for this behaviour.

Are there any other parameters in mqs.in ...
