the requirement is to make sure the channel is closed if there is a problem at either of the ends for which you have to enable that parameter!!!

i have enabled the channel event for a particular QMGR using
ALTER QMGR CHLEV(ENABLED)

and when i start and stop some channel there should be an event generated and a message should be available ...

No...there is no mqm folder in /opt
I think on AIX they are found at /usr/mqm and on Solaris at /opt/mqm......please correct me if i am wrong
