I have seen this before but I don't think the third party is using JNDI and I cannot change the applications.

I'd like to thank everyone here who helped.

The problem was with the older version of Java 1.5.0_04. Don't use it!

1.5.0_06 works like a dream.

I tested this on my PC with Java version 1.5.0_06-b05 and the application

ivtrun -nojndi -client -m TCMQ -host localhost

works.

Trying it on the other machine with Java version 1.5.0_04-b05 a ...
