I'm looking at the properties now.

This version is new for me. We were running on v5.3 and the channels were always running. Not saying that' correct - but it's what I'm used to seeing.

Does anyone know if the API Exerciser (that exists on the Windows platform) exists on the iSeries to test messages? If not, how does one go about testing messages to make sure they pass thru?

I'm rather green when it comes to MQ. It usually works without incident for me. However in trying to troubleshoot a problem, I was reading my error log and found these two messages:
