My question is the following one: is it possible through MQ configuration to have heartbeats sent by the MQClient to the MQServer on a regular basis, just to keep the line opened?

Well, MQSeries version 5.2 was installed, later upgraded to v5.3 with CSD 9. AFAIK nothing particular (at MQSeries level) has been done after that.

Do you issue a stop for the channels before you stop the qmgr? My bet would be that all is well when they are inactive when you restart but if you don't stop the channels and then kick the queue manag ... |
