Has anyone tried to create a MQSI v2.0.2 broker on a Solaris platform, but using an Oracle 8.1.7 database on a separate (Solaris based) server ?

Did you encounter any problems with 'transactional support' ?

Is it just a case of specifying the SQLNet parameter in the XAOpen section of the qm.ini XAResourceManager stanza ?

Did you follow the MQSI 2.0.2 Admin manual instructions:

If you want to use Oracle in coordinated transactions, you must follow the
instructions in the section called “Oracle configuration” in the MQSeries System
Administration book. In particular, you must provide a symbolic link to the Oracle
client library: libclntsh from /usr/lib.

We have configured MQSI v2.0.2 to use Oracle in coordinated transactions, but both MQSI and the Oracle database are on the same (Solaris) development platform.

When we implement it on our production system, MQSI will reside on one Solaris system and Oracle will be installed on a separate Solaris system.

Since MQSeries will be the transaction coordinator, I guess it doesn't matter whether it connects to an Oracle database manager on the local system or a remote system.

However, 'transactional support for Oracle on Solaris' is a new feature in v2.0.2 - we are keen to know if anyone else has 'verified it' with a database on a separate system.

Regards,
Nick
