Iam new to the as400 / ibm i series platform , iam mq admin worked on linux , aix and windows platforms. I want to know how can we take backup of mq objects, authentication files, logs before performing an mq upgrade. And also which journals to be taken as backup before performing an MQ upgrade . What are the commands that are used to take backup of the mq objects, auth files, logs, in ibm i series.

You use the dmpmqcfg command to backup the object & authentication records like you do for Unix/Linux & Windows.

For upgrading MQ on IBM i, simply follow the instructions here.
