We're running MQ9 on Redhat. We have Netflixity Qflex to tell us when messages are not flowing as expected.

But last week we were bitten by this issue:

IT15913: Queue manager becomes unresponsive error log reports AMQ7463 queue manager log is full

I wish I would have been notified the moment the error occurred. So I'm wondering what any other folks are using to monitor their MQ error logs on linux.

I'd appreciate any feedback.
Thanks
D

You've told us the MQ is at v9. What Release? What Modification-level? What Fixpac-level?

Please be a bit more precise. MQ v9.?.?.?

What logging type? Circular? Linear? If circular, how many primary? Secondary?

My bad. I'm at v9.1.0.7
And we use the default circular logging so 1 primary, 2 secondary.
And obviously interested in how others are looking through /var/mqm/qmgrs/QM*/errors/AMQERR01.LOG

Any text editor can display AMQERR01.LOG.

The default circular log allocates 3 primary and 2 secondary log extents - 4K x 4K = 16Meg total - way too small for production and most testing. Your error is about these logs, and not the error logs.

Our MQ Errors logs are ingested into the central Enterprise Logging system and we use those facilities to run searches, reports, build alerts for interesting log entries, etc.

Nice to be able to look at all your logs for every MQ queue manager going back months in one spot.
