Dear all,

customer planning for MQ disaster recovery, their servers on primary site and DR site have different hostnames and ips.

Assume I have pprc the data and log file over to the DR site, is the DR QM server required to have the same hostname? If not, how do we handle channel definition which is probably pointing to the production hostname?

Thanks!

Putting CONNAME in the search bar on the Knowledge Centre returned this:

...Specify CONNAME as a comma-separated list of names of machines for the stated TRPTYPE. Typically only one machine name is required. You can provide multiple machine names to configure multiple connections with the same properties. The connections are usually tried in the order they are specified in the connection list until a connection is successfully established...

I'm assuming that your DR site will either be unavailable for connection (in normal circumstances), or the DR queue manager(s) will be shut down.

A qmgr can be moved to a different host name. However, channels defined on remote qmgrs and MQ clients will need to be able to connect to the new host name. This is one case where DNS aliases come in handy.
There are considerations for MQ Clusters, as if you recreate a qmgr (rather than move the MQ directories), it will have a different QMID.
You may also have to consider firewall rules.
