Hi All,

Do we have any mechanism by which AMQ errors can be written to Queues which can be read by some applications.

I know, we can have events enabled and those can be retrieved from various event queues, but do we have similar mechanism for the various other kind of error messages that go into the AMQ error logs.

Regards
Saurabh Ghosh

There's nothing built in, but you could obviously use Splunk or something similar to achieve this.

Two questions occur to me:

1 - what kind of "other applications" would be interested in the contents of the logs? The information is of value only to MQ administrators and whatever monitoring software they use, which is typically plugged into the logs because of ...

2 - where would you put the messages that are warning you the queue manager can't put messages (e.g. disc full)? The reason MQ doesn't put these to queues like event messages is so it can report queue (and queue manager) failures

Everybody wants to see everyone else's logs, but no one wants to share their own logs.

Saurabh,
While they won't have everything the MQ Error logs will, you may want to alos consider looking at the various SYSTEM.ADMIN.*.EVENT queues. If the corresponding events are enabled for the queue manager, these queues will contain event messages that will likely be very useful to someone considering looking at the MQ error logs anyway.

Just to add MQv9.1 provides options to divert the MQ Logs to Syslogs. If not to queues , we can atleast divert the logs to syslogs and allow applications to read it from there. I am configuring the same in my environment for one of the compliance testings.
