We are sometimes getting error AMQ9209 for our SVRCONN channel -

Below IBM documentation suggest adding entries in /etc/services and inetd.conf. we already running "runmqlsr", so do we still need to enter the entries?

we are on MQ Appliance V9.

Quote:

AMQ9209 Connection to host <insert_3> closed

Explanation:
An error occurred receiving data from <insert_3> over <insert_4>. The connection to the remote host has unexpectedly terminated.

Response:
Tell the systems administrator.

Most common cause:
Incorrect settings in /etc/services and INETD.CONF files.

Diagnostic hints and tips:

Verify that INETD.CONF and /etc/services files match the name of the queue manager and listener port.
Try using the runmqlsr command on the remote queue manager (receiver side)
See runmqlsr (run listener) in the WebSphere MQ Information Center

If you were on a software queue manager rather than the MQ Appliance I would say to you "don't use inetd". You're on the MQ Appliance, so I believe you have no choice, you can't use inetd.

These recommendations are not suitable for your environment.

The full explanation for message AMQ9209 in modern releases of MQ don't even mention inetd:-
IBM MQ message AMQ9209 wrote:
MESSAGE:
Connection to host '<insert one>' for channel '<insert three>' closed.

EXPLANATION:
An error occurred receiving data from '<insert one>' over <insert two>. The
connection to the remote host has unexpectedly terminated.

The channel name is '<insert three>'; in some cases it cannot be determined and
so is shown as '????'.

ACTION:
Tell the systems administrator.

Were there any network issues at the time. Did the client application just terminate, close the lid of the laptop etc?

Cheers,
Morag
