Have a quick qn...

We have a project requirement to extract out large data sets of user info from AD, not just authentication against AD, we want to query and extract data sets of users.

Can this be done in IIB ?

AD is just a very specific kind of database with a very specific format. If you can find a JDBC driver that can read it, you can read it with IIB.

I struggle to think what sort of requirement this would be for what sort of project, and wonder how you're drowning out the wailing & contact admin of teeth from the AD admin and your audit/security function.

I mean, you're building a means to pull out a ton of sensitive user information from a secured system into any other system with access to IIB or the JDBC that IIB is using. What could possibly go wrong........

Interesting - you can't say contact admin in here. Perhaps you can say grinding.

The requirement is to pump sensitive/secure data through middleware (IIB). This type of activity happens all the time with backend server administrators who export to Excel or do similar work. Here, we’re looking to go with a defined SDLC solution that is based on business/technical needs and is transparent.

Any more suggestions on, if this can be done in IIB are appreciated.

Yikes.

I can see why you're thinking about IIB. I'd be more worried about what they're doing that they need such a facility, but that's just me.

I stand by my previous comments; it's just a database. My concerns remain, but if it's this or an Excel spreadsheet I can see the value of IIB.

I also stand by "yikes".
