If we have host A - where the system date has been set back 2 months for testing purposes and host B where the system date is current.

If a sender channel connects A to B - does MQ care about the difference in system dates?

Getting some "in doubt" channel status which might be related to this.

A = Linux 7.1.0.8, B = AIX 7.1.0.7

Did you follow the "in doubt" check list and what did you find out?
Are you sure the system date was the only thing that's been set back?
What about application state??

A colleague of mine resolved the channel with backout.

Just wondered as a general point about dates, on another channel I saw a SSL issue with a certificate not valid on the earlier date...

Interesting question. Aside from the SSL Certificate Validity Dates you mentioned, I would guess the dates do not matter, but hope our resident channel expert Mr. Paul Clarke offers his opinion. Exits may care depending on what they do and how they do it.

MQ does not require synchronised clocks although, needless to say, the accuracy of all the myriad of dates and times in MQ does ultimately depend on how good your clock is.

At the end of the day though I suspect no two machines connected by an MQ channel are ever truly synchronised. It would make life very awkward if MQ was to require it,

Regards,

Paul.
