I have a requirement.

Data comes in text format

Eg: ABCD//12/34/EF//GH

I have to pass the data as is with minor modification. I am using a DFDL to parse the message with '/' as seperator as I need to insert a value in one of those empty fields above given as '//'. But I need the other empty fields to pass as is. I am using same DFDL to parse and and serialize both input and output. When I do that the empty fields doesn't reflect in the output.

Is there any solution to this? Can anything be done by changing DFDL properties?

Did you set all your empty fields as mandatory?

What value have you assigned to the 'Separator Suppression Policy' on the sequence group that contains your fields? It should be 'suppressAtEnd'. Not 'suppress'.
