Hi All,

Between Mule ESB or IIB, which one to choose ? can someone guide me or provide some insight on how they differ in some cases ?

The one which best fits your individual need and requirements.

Not really; we don't know the specifics of your situation. Factors you should consider include (but are not limited to):

- Price
- Support
- Resource requirements
- Scalability

and once again, which has the best feature/function fit for what you're trying to do

What cases?

If you have specific use cases along the lines of "we need an ESB that does <....>", this should be a driver to the decision and ideally the basis for a Proof Of Concept. Try to implement this use case using Mule ESB (which is free) and the IIB Developer Edition (which is free). Observe the strengths and weaknesses of the 2 processes, and decide.

I should point out that I was forced to unleash a fair amount of sarcasm at an architect who'd done such a PoC at a previous site and chosen the not IIB solution, as a prelude to explaining why he didn't want to use the IIB estate this site has built out. His (rather pompous) reason?

Quote:
Performance - we found that <other solution> easily outperformed IIB. Admittedly it was the Developer edition running on a small machine, but we could never get more than 1 TPS out of it no matter what we optimized in the code

Be aware of this.

It's hard to work on performance when your developer edition is limited at 1 TPS...

This was the main thrust of my argument. Well... tirade. Moving to rant after about 3 minutes. With worked examples of flows here that do 600 TPS without excessive resource use. And some arm waving.

You would think that a result of exactly one per second max would suggest something capping the throughput.

Even someone with half a brain would then write a dummy flow to prove this theory, or google it.

I sometimes despair for the future of IT.

I may have brought that up as well. I'm a bit hazy on some of the later details. There was this red mist, which I suspect was pure caffeine, floating through the office distracting me.

A deficiency of unicorn horns, perhaps?
