when i create a monitor in MQ explorer, i see it gives me the create trasnfer command and the xml for that command.

is there any way i can query a queue manager to get this xml?

The qmgr does not hold this xml. I assume MQ Explorer would istself generate the command and xml. Transfer definition xml can also be produced by fteCreateTransfer -gt option.

essentially trying to figure out a way to save these definitions from the queue manager incase we lose the queue manager, we can recreate the qmgr and run a script that recreates the monitor jobs.

Save them before you apply them to the queue manager - rather than trying to extract them from the queue manager.

Using some kind of source control.
