I have MQ75 installed on my Win7 laptop. I just want to install IIB V9 toolkit and the IB explorer. My MQ75 is not installed on the IBM default directory. When I run the IB Explorer install.exe, after accepting the license, it tells me that MQ explorer not found. It only gives me the option of cancel or continue. If I continue, the installation completes but it does not provide a way to start the IB explorer. I think this is because it is a plug in that I have to get in into MQ explorer. Does anyone has similar experience and help me how to get this to work.

In the eclipse links directory of you MQ Explorer Eclipse put a link pointing to IIBExplorer.
file name must end in .link and the content should be like this
Code:
path=C:/Program Files (x86)/IBM/IBExplorer

filename = com.ibm.wmadmin.broker.explorer.link

Note that the extension has 4 character not 3. This is important.

Have fun

Hi fjb_saper, it does not work for me. Please confirm that I am doing the right thing

My MQ xplore is installed in
C:\My_Program\MQClient701\MQExplorer
I add the txt file com.ibm.wmadmin.broker.explorer.link under
C:\My_Program\MQClient701\MQExplorer\eclipse\links and have a single line
inside the file whihc looks like
path=C:\My_Program\IBM\MBExplorer

C:\My_Program\IBM\MBExplorer is where the MB explore is installed.

I then reboot the WIN7. But I am not getting the broker info in my MQ explorer. Is there any log that I can check for errors ?

Well you do have a client version of the MQExplorer. This means that you can only connect to a "remote" qmgr (even if local) and as such to a "remote broker" (even if it runs locally).

If the broker stuff does not show up, it is because MBExplorer is for MB 7 and 8. IIB 9 uses IBExplorer...

IIB 10 is accessed either through the WEB interface or the Toolkit. No more IBExplorer for IIB 10...

This is not a text file. It should be file with .link extension (not .link.txt file type)

Sorry my mistake
path=C:\My_Program\IBM\MBExplorer needed to be
path=C:/My_Program/IBM/MBExplorer
The problem is the / vs \ (which I copy and paste )

Also my apology for the confusion in my update , I have MB7 and IIB9 on the same Windows PC. So I asked about IBExplorer. But My update was using MBExplorer. I have it both working now on my PC with MQ7.5 explorer for MB and my MQV8 explorer for IIB V9.

Sorry for reopening this thread after a year.

I am having the same issue.

I installed MQ Explorer Version: 8.0.0.5 on my windows PC at path "C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere MQ Explorer"

Then tried to install MBExplorer V8, While installing i am getting error "MQExplorer not found, do you want to proceed". it didnt allow me to choose the path of MQExplorer, not sure which location it is searching. I choosed to continue and installation completed with errors at "C:\Program Files\IBM\MBExplorer.

Then i clicked start button, i see"empty" under MB explorer.

I even tried creating link file in MQ Explorer pointing to MB like you suggested in this post, and restarted MQ explorer. But still i dont see MB Explorer in my MQExplorer.

this is the first time i am trying to install MBexplorer. Please guide me if i am doing something wrong here.

Thank you
