A QLOCAL cannot point to somewhere else, so you cannot use that one.

A QREMOTE can be use to point to a queue on another queue manager, so if your alias to the topic is on one queue manager and the new application is on a different queue manager then you could use this, however you did say it was on the same queue manager in which case you can't use this one.

If the new application simply wants a different queue name then you can create another QALIAS also pointing to the topic for it to use.

Could you provide any further details, like why the new application can't use the existing QALIAS?

Cheers
Morag

Hey,

It depends on you application setup.

1.) If your application is remote using different queue manager, you can use remote queue to send message to your existing alias queue, that in tern points to topic.

2.) If you want to use same queue manager you need to create new alias queue to point to same topic as alias queue can not point to another alias queue.

Cheers
