Hello,

is setmqenv necessary for a queue manager to work normally?

setmqenv is a handy command which will set up the command line environment for issuing commands to a particular version of MQ. It is most useful when you have multiple installations of MQ and/or you have installed into non-default locations. However, the command is not 'required' by the Queue Manager; as long as the environment is correct all should be well.

I guess the question is; what is behind your question? Are you having problems with something? If so, then you would be better to describe the problem rather than ask about a possible diagnosis.

Cheers,

Paul.

Thanks for the quick response, I haven't got any problems with it, I was merely wondering.

Most people set a default instance. Please read about it here.
