When I'm trying to execute mqm commands, namely crtmqm, I'm getting permission denied.... Confused as to why?

I'm logged in as user mqm.
-bash-3.2$ who -m
mqm pts/25 Mar 2 10:42

and my permissions are unchanged from install

-bash-3.2$ ls -l crtmqm
-r-sr-s--- 1 mqm mqm 58248 Apr 29 2014 crtmqm

What am I missing?

What error is in the error logs for this qmgr?

No queue manager exists, that's what I'm trying to do, create one.

What are the permissions and ownership of the /var/mqm/ tree?
Is there an FDC created in /var/mqm/errors that matches the time you get the error?
Did you set relevant kernel parameters correctly?
Did you set the ulimit for mqm as defined in the documentation?
What is the output of mqconfig?

Our UNIX admin resolved it. User mqm is an active directory user. A local mqm account was creted, but the AD ID was what had access to /opt/mqm and /var/mqm, not the local one. Switched the id to the correct mqm account and it worked.
