As far as I know, on MQ version 5, the maximum message size to shared queue is 63K.

I am wondering if the limitation is still there for version 7

Thanks

Have a look in the V7.x KCs - all the information regarding how shared queue messages are stored, at that version, is there.

It's all in the same KCs, so if you're familiar with distributed you'll know where to find them...

Thanks,

I already checked that.

My understanding is:

For under 63K, it is stored inside the Coupling Facility, for above that, stored in BLOB,

So generally speaking, there is NO such limitation any more.

Could you please confirm my understanding is correct or not?

Thanks

And you'd trust the word of a complete stranger on the interweb thingy over the chapter-and-verse of the KC?

If you are on MQ V7.1 you have a choice of how large messages are stored, DB2 BLOBs or Shared Message Data Sets (SMDS). Please see:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSFKSJ_8.0.0/com.ibm.mq.pro.doc/q003660_.htm

The strong recommendation is to use SMDS - it is MUCH lower cost.

Thanks a lot for the reply.

I asked the question when I was on the entrance.
Right now, I realized this limitation only applied to the old version. There is no such block with version 7 or above.

The old 'limitation' was imposed by real-storage constraints of the CF hardware. A CF is not a virtual-storage box.
