I'm looking for someone to help support and maintain and upgrade the supportPac MS0S.

This will include learning the code, learning the build process, learning how to modify things, and otherwise the entire software development life cycle.

All contributions and changes will be made to the github repository https://github.com/ibm-messaging/mq-mqsc-editor-plugin

I have a current report of a very very very small bug. This is an ideal opportunity to start this process, and work with someone to make the necessary change and learn the build process.

If you are interested, please contact me through the method described in the MS0S documentation.

How do you look at interference with other plugins?
Currently usage of MS0S messes up the resource statistics view of the broker plugin (IIB9)

Yes, that's probably something that should be done, and would be another thing to assist with.

Strange things are happening...
Had added MS0P first then MS0S to Broker explorer and could no longer view sets and sets bindings and then the statistics dialogs...

However when adding in a different order:
  1. broker explorer
  2. Stop MQE
  3. MSOS
  4. Start MQE
  5. stop MQE
  6. MS0P
  7. start MQE

there seems to be no problem... go figure...
I wonder if it might have something to do with memory and keeping it (MQE) open for too long...
When it was not working I was getting some weird errors like NPE or ClassNotFound / jar not found etc... but I did not change the classpath or anything else... Just dropping the .link file into the eclipse/links directory...

There are ways to enable eclipse debugging. And MS0S at least uses this feature to produce a lot more (really, quite a lot more) detail about what it is doing. But that won't necessarily help with cross plugin loading issues.

You could try in just the normal way (that failed before ) and use the startup option to clean the plugin cache.

But, really, this thread is about some help I'm hoping to find, not issues with multiple plugins in an Eclipse install.

So, if you want to help... ?

Basic Java.

An understand of Eclipse usage and overall structure - not the APIs.

A willingness to learn.

A willingness to read messy code that was written to work, not necessarily look nice.

I'm going to bump this thread with a couple of additional comments.

First, you should find that I am much easier to work with than you'd expect.

Second, the skill set I'm looking for is really minimal. Enough java to know your way around and enough use of MQExplorer and Eclipse to know the pieces of the UI - not any of the APIs at all, just the UI.

In much the same way the people who work with my mild mannered real life alter ego do not have the rates of suicide & depression you might expect from reading my posts....

But the people you work with have already been beaten into submission with a large wet fish.

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions.

I don't trout people I'm paid to teach.

Come to MQTCv2.0.1.5 - again the geographical convenience has resulted in many of my team attending, along with myself, and you can view the (relative) normality of them all. Even my manager (bless) is attending to gain an insight into MQ and (I think) get some perspective on if I've been talking gibberish for the last 2 years.

Comments about my accent are probably inevitable here.

I was at 2.0.1.4. Still deciding if I should go to 2.0.1.5.
Visiting Roanoke and Willaimsburg is very tempting.

Hi -
I haven't seen it come in... I would have responded if I had.

I've sent you a note. You might want to edit your post and obscure your email to avoid getting lots of spam...
