Did you look at the documentation in the infocenter?

That goes without saying... this link --> http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSFKSJ_7.5.0/com.ibm.mq.ref.dev.doc/q112350_.htm
says its the QMANGER to connect with. However its value has no effect on my define Q definitions. I did not find any page that explains that unless I have missed a link or text.

Obviously you did not look at the example here http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSFKSJ_7.5.0/com.ibm.mq.dev.doc/q032790_.htm?lang=en

I encourage you to try any of the keywords. Start with a simple definition like define q(name) and then use the display function to show you all the attributes.

And no in the case of the queue definition it's not just the queue manager you're connected to. It could be a remote queue manager, if there is a default routing from the queue manager you're connected to, to the destination queue manager (remote queue manager).

Have fun

My question was how is it used and there seems no clear documentation of that.
I set it to any random value, and there's no error. All it does is that it changes what's printed on the headers.
do you know of any page that explains that?

Seems you need to go back to the basics and ask yourself what defines a (queue) destination...
Have fun
