No. That's why message properties are not mentioned in the v6.0 documents, and message properties are mentioned in the "what's new" section in the v7.0 documentation.

Sure it does, but not in the form you thought. Look at JMS / XMS support and message properties. The properties are in fact stored in the RFH header.
By the way V 6.0.x is out of support and if memory serves 6.0.2.8 had some bugs... Upgrade to 7.5 or 8 and enjoy properties the way they are described in the infocenter...
With V7 comes the possibility to request the properties in handle... i.e. the qmgr will process the RFH (compat mode) for you and like with JMS make it transparent...

Ok, given the OP was asking why he was getting an RFH header not message properties, this advice is somewhat circular in terms of logic....

And the really odd thing is that I'd thought the Java client would handle this for you...
But that's just my increasingly fading memory. (expiring data, not storage loss) |

I would have thought the Java client would handle it too, but apparently not. I'm trying to get access on a 7.5 QM for testing this out.
