I am planning for iseries MQ health checkup script.
Can we write a shell script so that we can execute in qshell.

Iam new to iseries and not have tried any thing yet..
just want to know can we do thisor only we need to write REXX program.

It's possible to do this in a script.

It's possible to do this in REXX.

Which language is more appropriate / easier / faster depends a lot on what exactly you plan to do in this "health checkup" which could be anything from "is the queue manager running" to "is the queue manager working within the designated performance limits and with nothing but the objects described in the respository used to build it, each with the attributes so recorded" with everything in between.

And no "health check" is better or worse than any other. It's all about your requirements.

In health checkup script just check like'qmgr status/queue depth / channel status /listener status

I just want to make sure we can do it shell script Since I don't have REXX background

If you're on a iSeries site, you can probably find someone to write REXX for you. If the guy who cleans the restrooms has been there a few years, he can probably write REXX by now......

FWIW if I was doing what you're planning I'd do it in REXX. That's not to say you should, that's just my view.
