Why do you think you need to? Or might need to?

Why do you think you need to double post?

So ask for it to be moved. Want it moved? Want to answer my question while you're at it?

Hits HERE and HERE. Personally, I'd have Googled it first, absorbed the information, then if I didn't understand it, posted here - then you would have likely not incurred Vitor's wrath...

We tune to address performance issues, like missing SLAs. What issue(s) are you facing?

Both of which underscore the reason for my original question - why does the OP think he needs to change them?

How do you know you need to improve the performance?

What performance measurements have you taken? Which numbers are you trying to improve?

If by that you mean you can't find the detail in the Knowledge Centres, neither could I, which is why I Googled it...

So your site bans the use of Google and forces you to only use the InfoCenter?

So you want to change these to improve the performance - again I ask why? How have you arrived at these parameters as the cause (or the solution) of the performance problem you've not seen fit to mention?

Here's another question you can fail to answer properly: if these parameters are not documented in the InfoCenter (and they're not because you couldn't find a reference to them), why are you even considering changing these undocumented parameters without the blessing of a PMR?

Also, if this does happen to solve whatever problem you're having, remember to retest every time you apply maintenance. Because these are undocumented features, there's no guarantee they'll work the same way (or even exist) in future releases.

The purpose of tuning is to allocate limited resources to the important workloads. Those resources are: CPU, RAM, and I/O.

You must first understand your current resource utilization by capturing performance data.

What are you tuning? Performance of what? MQ overall? One particular application? A combination of applications? All of the apps in the server?

If only one of your applications seldom creates a few 100MB messages, will you tune the qmgr to maximize that apps performance? Or will you tune another app that frequently creates many small messages?

Again, what are your tuning objectives? How will you determine if your tuning efforts have worked?
