Yes java requires you to specifically set the connection mode to client in the connection parms when attempting to make a client connection.
You could (If available) set the connection mode to "bindings then client"...
Typically I use for bindings connection:
-Djava.library.path="<mqinstall>/java/lib64:/usr/lib64" or if 32 bits java
-Djava.library.path="<mqinstall>/java/lib:/usr/lib"
You could also set those values to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH or equivalent environment variable. _________________ MQ & Broker admin

He's trying to create a client connection. He doesn't likely *have* MQserver installed, and so a bindings connection is *the wrong choice*.
