Hi Experts,

I have one quick question regarding the SDR channel.

I can see in one of the channel definition the CONNAME parameter as follows.
CONNAME('PROXY(1414)')

I know the values localhost (refereeing to the same server) but not sure what does the PROXY , reflecting to what?

Also I am curious about the significance of this PROXY value.

Please advise.

A quick google search for 'wmq define channel conname' yielded this: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv7/v7r0/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.mq.csqzae.doc%2Fic11650_.htm

Quote:
If the transport type is TCP
CONNAME is either the host name or the network address of the remote machine (or the local machine for cluster-receiver channels).

So, PROXY is either the host name, or DNS name, or some other name that is discoverable.

yes.. completely agree with the information shared by bruce2359.

In the environment, it depends how your server is reachable and it's network domains.
The Sender channel could have the connection name of the receiving Qmgr's Server hostname/IP/DomainName/ShortName of Connecting Physical Or Virtual Server.

It is totally depends on your system and its architecture. PROXY in your environment might be ending to a server via single/multiple Firewall Or Netted IPs.
