Hi,

We have upgraded the WMQ version from 6.0.2.7 to v7.1 in a AIX HACMP environment.
The upgrade has been made on both nodes and the queue managers are running properly after the upgrade.

I have a question regarding the output of dspmq after a change over is performed:
- On the active node, the queue managers are started automatically and the output is correct: STATUS(Running).
- On the standby node the output of dspmq is STATUS(Status not available).

On WMQ 6.0.2.7, the behavior was different. On the standby node the dspmq output showed the queue managers with STATUS(Ended normally).

I expected to have the same output displayed also for WMQ v7.1.

Please help if you have an explanation for this.

Thank you, Laura

I think this was a change made to more accurately reflect the status of HA queue managers. The various states are listed on the V7.0 Info Centre page HERE, but with no qualification of the states in relation to HA, and the V6.0 Info Centre page certainly does not list that state.

Did you establish the queue manager under HA control per the new methods, listed in the info center?

How you configure the queue manager can affect what dspmq can or can not show.

If you've used an older MC91 method or even a home-grown method of making the queue manager available on two machines, this could easily produce the result you're seeing.

New versions bring new functions, which bring new commands and command-responses, which are documented in version-specific documentation.

Alter your expectations accordingly.

Yes, I have used the older MC91 method.
I have reconfigured with the information from the infocenter and have created a new queue manager in order to test the entire procedure.
The displayed information for dspmq on the standby node is the same (Status not available) for the new created qmgr.

I will keep searching the documentation, maybe the output is correct.

Thank you, Laura
