I am just making a guess, my Friend.

Did you check if you had enough memory before installing MQ on Linux?

As mentioned in these links:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv7/v7r1/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.mq.doc%2Fzi00150_.htm

and

Is the directory MQ is being installed into empty? Does it work if it is? Looks to me like a cheeck was added to 7.5 to verify the destination for MQ (code, not data) is empty in the runtime install

Hi,
I want to install MQ 7.5 in Linux-Ubuntu(64 bit).

I created a folder called "mqm", under the /opt folder.

/opt/mqm is empty.

I have the installables (untar files) in the location /home/dim/MQ.

After accepting the licence, I ran the command
root@D0036:/opt/mqm# rpm -ivh --nodeps --force-debian /home/dim/MQ/MQSeriesRuntime-*.rpm

My installation failed . I got the following response.

Preparing... ################################# [100%]

ERROR: Specified path is not empty

error: %pre(MQSeriesRuntime-7.5.0-2.x86_64) scriptlet failed, exit status 1
error: MQSeriesRuntime-7.5.0-2.x86_64: install failed

What should I do ?

I'd suggest that you follow the instructions downloadable from ibm's knowledge center.

Are you by any chance having . or ./temp as temp file?
Are you sure you are installing in the right sequence?
--nodep can mess up the install sequence ...

Which is why I tend to use 'yum' when installing on RHEL/CentOS

Also I think you are going to need more of the MQ .rpm's

Whist is why I delete the ones O DON't want such as the lang packs and then install everything. sure I'm lazy but I can't ever remember running into the sort of error the OP is encountering.

The OP says he's installing on Ubuntu... I believe there is a special install proc described in the infocenter for Ubuntu...

Yes Ubuntu, the distro that tries to be everything to everyone and misses the mark in oh so many ways but I will give Canonical and the Linux press one thing, they have succeeded into getting an awful lot of people into thinking that Ubuntu ===== Linux and nowt else matters.

Hi,
I am following the steps in http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21656068.

I am still facing the same error.

Can you please add -vv to the rpm command, save the output, and find the point in the resulting log where that message is issued. What you are doing should work.
