I think a good read of the MQSeries client manual will really help.

I think we are getting closer though.

Q. Is there a full installation of MQSeries on the same machine as the PB app? If the answer is YES, then using the COM objects you can ONLY (repeat ONLY) connect to that queue manager. If no, then you need to define either the MQSERVER environment variable or, better, build/copy an AMQCHLTAB client file. The PB app needs to know how to connect to the remote queue manager.

Can a UNIX platform support syncpoints?

I will answer those other questions for you. I am in the process of reading material about MQ.

Syncpoints ... sure ... in conjunction with database and without. However database included syncpoints only where the application and the queue manager are co-located on the same machine.

I am not going to be using it with database updates, I just need to be able to perform commits and rollbacks to make sure nothing happens to the message.

To answer your question, I don not have a full version of MQSeries on the machine with the PB application. That means I shouldn't have any connection issues other then the one I am having.

I have declared a the environment variable.

Also, do you know where I can get a copy of the MQ manual that you referred to before, I have no documentation, everything I read is from the internet.

Go here:
http://www-4.ibm.com/software/ts/mqseries/library/manualsa/index.html

It contains all MQSeries related documentation from IBM in PDF or HTML format.
