Dear All,

I want to learn BPM Tools like ILOG or Lombardi, is it necessary that I need to have expertise in websphere technology? Can you all suggest me on this.

If your moniker gives any indication of whom you work for I strongly suggest you hit the relevant internal website, find a willing mentor, and have then answer the question. If you can't find such a person, have a look at the IBM training pages, which will have a suggested progression route, which will name any relevant related suites.

Hopefully someone will reply, who actually knows the answer.

I do not know the answer, myself.

In the meantime, I am confused by the phrase "WebSphere technology". What do you understand that phrase to mean?

Hi ibmkumar,

To some extent, it depends on what you know now, and what's you understanding of what BPM and BRMS means in terms of technologies, their positioning, and their usage.

If you just want to learn development on ILOG and Lombardi, you don't really need to know a lot of WAS (assuming WebSphere technology meant WebSphere Application Server)...just basic JDBC setup, JMS etc etc...

ILOG JRules has some good tutorials to take you through the development and nearly all features...Lombardi (before v7.5) has an Authoring User Guide pdf to get you through.

The new IBM BPM v7.5 of course has Lombardi + WebSphere Process Server + WESB + JRules features in one product...

If you want to learn the administration, then I'd suggest you know WAS well...

Regards.

@ibmkumar

Do you mean with or without training?

Is your intent to read books and not go to class? Or, will you be enrolling in the appropriate technical courses and attending instructor-led knowledge exercises?
