Hello,
I installed latest version of WebSphere MQ Explorer v7 along with MQFTE.

Coordination manager is configured and started.
Same for a FTE Agent which correcty responds to ftePingAgent

However the WebSphere MQ Explorer doesn't display item 'Managed File Transfer', only classical Queue Managers (which displays correctly the Coordination manager)

How to check MQ Explorer contains the needed plugins ?
Someting else missing ?

Thanks for any help.
Bye,
Bruno

Hi Bruno,

You should check your /opt/mqm/eclipseSDK33/eclipse/links directory (or Windows equivalent) for a file com.ibm.wmqfte.link. If it's not there, copy it from /opt/IBM/WMQFTE/tools/. When you restart the Explorer, you should have the plugins. Not sure why the link file would be missing, but it seems the most likely cause.

strmqcfg also has the -i and -c options which clean some kind of cache. Probably not necessary but worth a try if the above doesn't work.

Pete

Hi bcostacurta,

Just to verify, when you say you installed MQFTE, you do mean the remote tools also ?

Regards.

I installed the WMQFTE Tools on both Windows and Unix platform (Windows contains the WM Explorer and Unix is my Coordination manager platform)

No file called 'com.ibm.wmqfte.link' found in my WMQFTE Tools installation.

So I created this file in the
C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere MQ\eclipseSDK33\eclipse\links directory containing the full path to Tools :
path=C:/Program Files/IBM/WMQFTE/tools

I used strmqcfg with -i and -c options.
But it's not working : MQ Explorer start but anyway still no 'Managed File Transfer' item.

Bye,
Bruno

It's works now.

Basically I removed all previous Eclipse, MQ Explorer ..etc.. installed products.
And then re-install them using latest from IBM webiste (see ms0t support pack) starting with Eclipse ...etc...

Then indeed the item 'Manged file transfer' appears correctly.

Bye,
Bruno

It seems you're unlucky ...

As I mentioned when I created this forum thread, I also struggled few days before having this finally (or by chance..) working after removing all and re-installing latest versions from IBM website.

Additionally, and as far as I remembered, I also used to check and clean all related values into the (IMHO infamous and crap product) Windows Registry Base on my XP workstation.
So I'll reckon you could also check the Registry Base : the de-installation procedures might not clean all values which could indefinitely mess next re-installation.

Hope it helps.
Good luck for the race.

Bye,
Bruno

I've had a number of clients trip over this. You have to have a current WMQ Explorer so if you didn't install it from SupportPac MS0T then uninstall and reinstall it. Then install the FTE Remote Tools, select Custom Install and then select the plug-in.

Hi,

Much like others in the community, I'm having problems too. When I attempt to install the remote tools I accept the license agreement, specify the destination folders for installation, then the installer starts asking me about QMs, it never asks about which product set where I should actually be able to specify the complete install option.

I'm using Windows 7 with WMQ v 7.0.1 and WMQFTE v 7.0.3.

I'm clearly missing something but I've followed all the instructions that IBM provide so I'm really at a loss as to what I'm doing wrong.

Anybody got any suggestions ?

If it's not asking you about complete install options than you aren't installing the 'Documenation and Tools' installer.

There are 3 possible installers - 'Server', 'Client' and 'Documentation and Tools'. Only 'Documentation and Tools' includes the MQExplorer tool.

Double check which one you are running.

Hi,

I was only supplied the client and server installers. I had a chat with the supplier and managed to get the "Docs and Tools" installer too.

I've installed that and I now have the "Managed File Transfer" in the MQ Explorer.

Many Thanks for the assist.
