I have a situation where we are using MQ on the mainframe and have a client application connecting to it. This connection leverages SSL and I'm wondering if someone can tell me how I get the public SSL key from the mq server so I can import it into my client java application?

Do you mean how do you obtain a copy of the CA certificate that is in the chain of the z/OS-based queue managers personal certificate? Because if so your RACF people should be able to help; they'll be able to identify it in the key ring.

Moving this to the Security forum...

Can we assume from your repost of the question here you need to know this for non-z/OS platforms as well? I notice this near-duplicate post doesn't mention a system.

sorry VITOR, I'm not a guru on this form, didn't realize my post vanished from the other topic into this one, that's why I reposted (don't be so damn grumpy ).

I am looking for the CA certificate, but I'm unfortunately in a position where my MQ Administrator is very new and has no idea what I'm talking about. Is there something similar to using a web browser, where I can click on the "security" icon and it shows me the cert and I can export it to a file?

I moved it, as stated at the bottom of my reply...and your retort is rather rude to someone who is trying to help you.

Not that I'm aware of for z/OS - but happy to be corrected. Ask the z/OS Sys Admin to query the key ring to find out what personal cert the queue manager is using, that will show the CA cert used to authenticate it. The same Sys Admin can then export a copy to a dataset that can be used by you.
