Hi,
I have MQcluster on my Windows 2000 workstation. When i am creating a clusterq by using explorer then i am getting this error

"The queue manager is not a member of cluster 'XYZ'.The object which you have shared in the cluster will not be avilable to other members of the cluster until you make this queue manager a member of the cluster(AMQ4514)."
with OK and Cancel buttons.

Actually that queue manager is a member of cluster. Why it show this error?
I did cluster set up by using MQSeries explorer only.

I've seen this error before when the queue manager wasn't properly added to the cluster. I suspect that if you go to one of the other queue managers in the cluster and in runmqsc type 'dis clusqmgr(*)' you won't see the queue manager you are having problems with.

Is this a full repository or partial repository qmgr? Did your clussdr chl run when defined? Allthough it might appear that it is part of the cluster it might not be i.e. a qmgr is introduced to a cluster by defining a clussdr chl, by defining this object it does not neccessarily mean you have joined it i.e. if the chls have not started you have still not been introduced to the cluster.

As suggested by Brandon - can the other qmgrs see your qmgr?

Regards

This is a full repository queue manager and all clussdr and clusrcvr channels are running.Clustering is working fine. Yes i am able to see this queue manager by using dis clusqmgr(*) command on other clusterd qmgr.
Except this message every thing is well and good.

Do you get the same error when attempting to create the queue in runmqsc?

No Duncan,i am not getting same error when attempting to create the queue in runmqsc. But i got same error after creating a queue in runmqsc, using explorer .....right click on that queue and choose properties and just select Cluster first then i am attempting to look at General properties of that queue.

MQExplorer is case sensitive so make sure you enter the cluster name correctly as you would see it displayed in runmqsc.

I have come across recommendations from several sources that it is advisable not to use MQExplorer to create/alter cluster objects, but to use 'runmqsc'.
You may also find it useful to use 'amqrfdm' to check out cluster information.

I have exactly the same problem on my W2K laptop with MQ5.2 installed. I am sure that my queue manager is part of a cluster. When I create a queue, I check the radio button "Share in cluster", but MQ Explorer DOES NOT propose the cluster name. When I confirm the creation I get the same error message as Venkat specified earlier (not part of cluster xyz). But when I check OK the queue is immediately advertised in the entire cluster. Looks to me like a pure MQ Explorer bug, because I have no problem using runmqsc. I have not found a solution to the problem, but the problem is not systematic. I have installations where MQ Explorer works correctly and I cannot find a difference that explains the problem.

I must say I never liked MQExplorer but I have never experienced this.

Have you upgraded to the latest MMC?

Nicolas,
I have also intermittently experienced the situation where the cluster is not proposed, but queue is added to the cluster. Posted the question on the listserver several months ago and the concensus was 'MQExplorer bug....use runmqsc'. Maybe it will be fixed in 5.3?!

Well, I've faced it too...

In the beginning it was frustrating, ... today I just Ignore all the problems i MMC, and use Poul' fine support pack (MO71) or runmqsc.

It have cost me many reconfigured clusters until I realized it was not me and my clusters that have the problem...... but MMC.

Just my $0.02

Yes I agree with you. If i use MQSC to configure MQ Cluster setup then no problem and no error messages.
