Hi,
Can anyone plz tell me approximately what would be the performance hit when we use predominantly use XSLT instead of ESQL in our Message Flows.

I don't believe there's a big impact performance wise - I'd try it and see.
The big issue is that XSLT is intended for sites where there's a large amount of existing XSLT and you're moving to a WMB solution. ESQL has more features and flexibility than XSLT.
So it's not a big issue using XSLT (and I'd be interested in the results of any experiments you perform), AFAIK the IBM recommendation is that new developement is done in ESQL & you migrate away from XSLT in a convienient timescale. Certainly it seems clear that if you plan to stick with XSLT for a while & not use ESQL, you could save yourself a fortune on the WMB license and run the XSLT native!
Other opinions equally valid of course.

| Of course, XSLT requires that you input XML data, so when you are going from a COBOL copybook to an XML reply, then it's a bit trickier than you'd like. |

XSLTs are mostly used when you are trying to create re-usable flows where you will move the logic to XSLT instead of hardcoding in msgflows. You can use the same msg flow for a different interface just modifying the XSLT and feeding it to the msgflow(wich uses XSLT node).

| we had some major issue using xslt but it was more of us know the best way to code in it. After that was rectified, we were able to run it like with no big performance issues. |
