I am parsing an XML document and try to retrieve the content of a specific tag and its associated children. However, the tag may or may not have children. I have tried to use '*.[]' with no success. Is there any easy way to do that? Help!

Maybe a fragment of ESQL showing what you have tried and what you wish to accomplish may assist. The number of children (if any) of an element in the MQSI message tree can be determined with the CARDINALITY built-in function.
