Does DATAPOWER XI50 talk SMTP protocol?

Quick look on a features url did not show that it did? But thought I had heard from some source that it did.

Looking to have email sent inbound to an adapter (email server emulator)
for inbound traffic and parse the SMTP messages and place attachment component on an MQ Queue.

Can DP unit be used to do this ?

Regards,
GTC

*sticks neck out*

Not the way you want it to, no.

It will send mail out to people, but it doesn't process incoming SMTP.

I have been told there is a way to possibly make it do so by using a generic capability of the device but it would be in a non-supported configuration at that point ... soooo not sure how interested I/customer would be ... .

SMTP is a Message broker (MQSI or whatever proper current acronym is) input node type I believe ... would be a nice capability for this device.

Would be cool/very useful to have a full functioning MQ server in this device not just client ... maybe not Big MQ but an embedded MQe would be more in line with and moldable to its security gateway mission.

Too bad MQe appears to be a dead (or at best on life support) product.

GTC
