Hi All,

While talking about data power , XMl is playing the main role , my query is

1.Does Data Power talks with only XML or with any time of format ?
2.Can data Power transform data from XML to any format ?
3.In a simple way i want to transform XML to EDI and EDI to XML is it possible in data power

please come out with ur thoughts.

Thanks In Advance

Hi,

We are about to start using datapower to transform between various EDI standards.

We use three steps
EDI - XML
XML-XML
XML to EDI

It has all been in the lab so far but we are starting a roll out soon.

are you using wtx keefer? I know WTX has full support for many non-xml data formats allowing for any-to-any transforms...

No I have not usede WTX.

I have used message broker for many years but not at my current company which I find much more flexible than DataPower.

dont compare WBIMB and Datapower, in the all the sense, both are very much different.

MB is an amazing transformation tool, and very expensive in the world
Datapower is an hardware, mainly to accelarate the WebService communication

For basic ESB usage i.e no aggregation, DataPower fits very well.
We are not using it for WebServices (yet).
We are using it for EDI to EDI transformations and routing and in that space it competes very closely with WMB.

Message arrives on queue. DataPower parses messages, transforms to target format and routes to appropriate MQ destination.

Sounds like a standard MB message flow to me and much cheaper.

I used to be a developer at Hursley on MB and worked for several years in the IBM SGS team so I do know how MB works very well and what it is good at.

I also have a number of years experience with DataPower and know that is main work area is in the WebServices space.

For enterprise ESB work I would choose WMB over DataPower but for high volume simple transformation and routing I find it hard to justify the cost.
